Capacity building and Professional Development – Lifelong Learning

 

Teachers are at the center of each and every educational system; Their role is pivotal and it is key that teachers are adequately trained, and well aware of their importance in achieving desired objectives of the system itself.

With the massive explosion of knowledge as we enter the era of information, telecommunications and high-tech, teachers need to continuously keep up and evolve with the times and pace of these technological changes; This in addition to their core role i.e. to provide their students with the tools and environment to learn and grow and additionally, they the also need to help society progress by educating the future generation.

At the core of teacher training, is focus on ensuring that teachers are lifelong learners, able to continuously learn well after they have completed their college courses. There is no doubt that professional development becomes highly critical for teachers as it is another means for them to refresh their skills and knowledge and for some to learn new tools.

In this day and age teachers that are lifelong learners will be highly successful as changes in our modern day are fast and continuous

Project-based learning is not without its opponents
Through my work as a trainer I noticed that a lot of teachers are opponents of projects learning-based due to weakness of potentials and the circumstances experienced by the country in Egypt, but when I explained to them my experience with my students , who are with special needs , and how project-based learning improved students’ products and increased the knowledge they have through working in groups and tasks they perform during the project work, a lot of teachers is satisfied using one of the methods of active learning while working with their students
.

In Project Based Learning (PBL), students go through an extended process of inquiry in response to a complex question, problem, or challenge. Students learn in a project-learning method, by addressing complex questions or problems, students try to offer a solution. In this approach, the student will be in the center. he received a complex problem, we lead him to make an effort to looking for knowledge he needs, and without it them would not be able to advance in the face of this challenge. In order to shall be derived his knowledge, which are in most it is not stereotypical and not ready, he should work skill question and exploration, investigation and interrogation. Moreover, the student must offers a new performing and will need in the process of learning and achievement of these skills to the twenty-first century, including cooperation, communication and critical thinking – scientific. This approach ensures that the student hears us voice and shows his character and helped him to make his choices. Based on what is offered and performed by addressing these problems and challenges, Rated guidance and help in progress. As a result of this process in every project, is a manufacturer offers to the public in the form of a presentation about the nature of achievement and provide the same, whether it is an invention or a solution to a problem or a new disclosure or material knowledge
